Is it just me or was he the MOST obnoxious and annoying kid in the whole world. How are the John Lennon look alike from Spin city and that girl able to stand him through out high school let alone a 90 minute movie? But then again this is one of the MOST memorable movies from my childhood....

From a modern perspective, Ferris Bueller's Day Off is one of the best teen-movies ever made. It terms of how the story is told, the craftsmanship, the sincere development of characters (compared to the hackneyed teenage stereotypes in modern teen flicks) seem so genuine. Ferris Bueller himself doesn't seem to be the most likable character judging from other comments, but the sheer quality of Ferris Bueller's Day Off as a film is remarkably high - for what it is.

Watched today for probably the 100th time. I love how I always notice something new. It has cheered me up on a cold morning, fuelled by insomnia and being home sick (for real).

I can't believe how bad this movie is!!! I thought you were supposed to at least like Ferris but he came off as a bit of a bully. As for the rest of it, typical 80's farce.
May have been good in 1986 but has not stood the test of time.
Also worst acting I've ever seen from Jennifer Grey.

The kind of movie that used to play on television so much, it's strange to hear it with the strong language. I kinda wish the sanitized track was available, just because it was so hilariously bad (another movie that stands out in my mind for the same reason is Die Hard 2). Ferris Bueller was never my favorite John Hughes movie - I just don't think the script is sharp enough - but it does have a great ending. And having seen it so many times, I tried to apply the "Ferris is just a figment of Cameron's imagination" filter to it, and while it doesn't really work (the movie's just not cooperating), those so inclined will find evidence to support that thesis (look especially at the parade sequence and the Cameron-Sloane relationship there).

It's like a Dennis movie with an absolutely unlikeable douchebag instead. Dated, bad movie.
