I realized it had been a while since I watched Groundhog Day, so I fired up the projector this morning. The script and Bill's performance outshine its flaws, most notably of which, as another user stated, the outdated music.
Bill Murray's best comedy, in my opinion, until his later, more mature work. It has a lot of laughs, but also a few tears, and is eminently rewatchable.
Bill Murray at his finest. I used to watch this film dozens of times on VHS before I hit my teens and was somehow always entertained by it. Fast forward 12 years and I can fully realize how well crafted it is. It isn't a romantic comedy per se because it has so many deeper and darker themes that would be absurd in any modern romcom. Murray more or less carries the film on his own shoulders but proves he is more than able to do just that.
Classic comedy movie, Bill Murray was awesome in this movie, Chris Elliott was also very good, a movie that should be in the Comedy list of imdb, wrestlemania 9 sucked
