Based on the previous comments and the imdb rating, I didn't expect much. But I was entertained. The Charlotte Rampling sequence was particularly funny.

Solondz is one of those directors for whom I have an incredibly difficult time determining an opinion. I know that he's not a genius, but is he a valid artist? I suppose he is. Does he rely too much on shock factor? Well, with this film he didn't, which unfortunately may be one reason I found it so much less interesting than some of his others (Happiness, Storytelling, Welcome to the Doll House). In Life During Wartime, he certainly didn't make up for the lack of shock with a better story or more creative parts. All in all, it was a bit humdrum--distorted humdrum in typical Solondz fashion of course, but nonetheless...boring.

Memory, truth, forgiveness – interesting, but weaker than Happiness. Not in the book.
