Beautiful, but quite depressing movie about two guys trying to make their dreams come true. Great performances by Jon Voight and Dustin Hoffman. Also a very interesting way of filming with flashbacks and hallucinations.

I saw it as a movie about escapist dreams, people who hear stories about other places and go there, only to see the true side of the place they've heard about. Interestingly enough, it reminds me of another "Midnight" movie, "Midnight in Paris", where instead of places that are emphasized, it's times.

Drivel, huh? I would hardly call it that... Yes, it is weird and depressing, but I would give credit where it's due - dialog and acting (especially from Hoffman) was top notch.

Withnail and I meets Easy Rider. One of the most fantastic films from the 1960s.

I've included this one in my list of best films from the New Hollywood era.

When you see the movie as one about retards, yes then it is a waste of time. I saw it as a movie about loneliness, absolutely loved it.

We all know that life is hard, but some movies just have an uncanny knack for portraying it. This one really nails that feeling of isolation and loneliness all the while being reminded that your dreams are far beyond your reach. It's a great drama and perhaps some of the best acting from Dustin Hoffman I've ever laid eyes upon. Such a slimy, pitiful character brought to vivid life by his incredible acting. spoiler

A great use of music indeed.
Hoffman shines in this role just like Angelina LoveĀ“s dad.
The story is great, a good new adventure in a new town, for a guy that dream too much.
That party was weird.

The original Dumb and Dumber. Why, for the love of cinematic holiness would anyone want to waste his time watching the aimless stumbling of such shallow, valueless characters? Perhaps I'm not the perceptive fellow I fancy myself to be, but I cannot discern any entertainment (unless one enjoys deriding the insipid) in this depressing movie. I want back the 113 minutes of my life wasted upon this drivel.
