Only Angels Have Wings (1939)'s activity - page 3

An excellent film by Hawks and I love the long runtime as it allows to really fixate on the drama and build up the characters. The story just drops us right in the middle of itself and it has to be the fastest I've ever cared a lot about characters that I just met. Cary Grant is spectacular as a pilot who's so convinced that the next flight is his last that he never even carries a few spare matches with him. Jean Arthur plays the perfect foil, a spunky lady who gets caught up in the world of dangerous flying and can't let go, much like all of us watching. It almost has shades of Casablanca with the mood, though an eerie kind of Noir where pilots are fighting against the weather like it's some unseen animal lurking in the sky.

You can't go wrong with Cary Grant and plane crashes.
