So season 2 came out - it's a deeply satisfying feast of bleak drama and bittersweet laughs that comes built for binging. The focus has moved beyond Piper's dilemma to the wider prison community, their fatal flaws, the frustration at their powerlessness, the heartbreak at their sense of loss and the momentum of their sad indignities. Ultimately it comes down to a single theme - the choice between allegiance to the inevitable insanity of the prison reality, or to the new family you can come to choose. Superb acting all round: Lyonne, Mulgrew, and Yael Stone all excel, and I particularly liked Joel Garland as lovable Scott in the finale, but this season belonged to Uzo Aduba as Crazy Eyes...through and through. A fruitful series that's starting to bloom and fulfill its promise.

The heterosexual content on most shows these days are just as overstated. I liked the show and enjoy the diversity of the cast. Can't wait for S2!

I think this is the best drama TV show I've ever seen. Even it's flaws give it character. I've enjoyed watching this and recommending it to everyone I know and then talking to them about it. I hope season 2 is able to keep the steam and even improve upon the few problems of season 1. The first two episodes start out slow but around the third it took off and I couldn't stop watching. A great, diverse cast that really give life to their characters. There's no prejudice in the content dealt with throughout the episodes - everything from racism to drug abuse to poverty to sexual identity. Things can get a little cheesy at times but the show is always able to recover quickly. Never been so hooked to a television show in my life. Highly recommended.

When it's good, it's really good, when it's bad, it's pretty bad. Still well worthwhile, especially in the mid-late seasons, as the focus moves away from Piper's relatively bland arc, and becomes a more genuine ensemble show. From seasons 5-7, Taystee arguably takes over as the lead role, if there can be said to be one, which is a welcome shift. The show also grows some real teeth in the later seasons; rather than just taking on for-profit prisons, it begins critiquing incarceration in general, and spends much of its last season exploring alternative models like restorative practices. Oh, also, I love that gay shit.

Despite some hiccups with some character's fate in the very end, I don't regret watching this show over for the last 7 years. Now that it is over I have no doubt that this television series will go down in history as one of the most important original series of Netflix, as well for had giving the chance to so many female actors to shine and the chance to play these bright and dark but most important, memorable characters.

"A Netflix Original" seems to be the ultimate seal of quality these days. Another great series from them, aside of House of Cards and Hemlock Grove. As a fan of 'Weeds' I found 'OITNB' very entertaining and very addicting. Can't wait for S2 either!

Bleh. A letdown. Not really funny, not really dramatic. Uneven casting. Feels like a jail version of Parks and Rec trying to be deep at times.
The lesbian content is ridiculously overstated.
It's a big walking cliché.
