I truly believe that the transition from film to digital cinema will be the biggest transformation in filmmaking since the invention of sound or color, so this film is incredibly important to me. This documentary features an amazing array of interviews and doesn't shy away from technical discussions. Keanu proves to be an excellent interviewer who knows exactly how to probe for the right responses.
I feel deeply saddened that I wasn't born early enough to experience the cinema as the great directors did as children. I don't like going to the theater, because everything is just sensationalized. The documentary itself gives great insight into what Directors, Cinematographers, Colorists, etc. have to deal with now in order to make their picture. The end message is obvious, but to hear it from people who do it for a living just makes it extra special.
Very interesting documentary. I agree with what's-his-face when he said that today there's no 'tastemaster' to sanitise what is being pumped out by all the amateurs. I'm no film-maker, though I am a writer. The advent of self-publishing has allowed the floodgates to open for boundless waves of dross and sub-par rubbish. And it'll only increase.

Joker of Gotham
Film or digital? It doesn't matter what you do with that, what matters is the outcome of the work done in the end.
