I'm surprised by the lack of supportive comments for this film. I've seen it several times and it gets funnier with every viewing. I see it as a comedy first, drama second. So many quotable lines and wonderfully flawed characters ranging from awkward, obnoxious, confused and smug. Sure, the film often lacks closure but it is true to life in that aspect and in many others. The Academy so rarely recognises comedies and I think this was a worthy nominee.

I loved the movie till the part when spoiler

. after that it is only drama in the movie and the movie lost potential maybe a different ending could be better for the movie.
The Julianne Moore and mark ruffalo were awesome, in particular Mark Ruffalo that is a actor that I care about a lot.

Performances are great, and Julianne Moore in particular is incredible; she's absolutely magnetic all the time she's on screen. Dialogue is quite good. On the other hand, the plot is a really hackneyed and unoriginal collection of soap opera storylines, and most of the plot threads just seem to fizzle out without resolution.

Most definitely the quirky comedy (with hints of drama) of the year. The film will surprise you with its well-defined characters, sense of humour and honesty.

A very sweet movie with funny as well as touching moments... about a so-called unconventional but actually very common family with all the little joys and problems most families know.

A bunch of very sweet and gifted actors made this a joy to watch.

Kind of goes nowhere, especially some of the subplots such as the ones with the kids and their friends. I found the catalyst to the conflict between the women silly and contrived. Overall, below average.
