An excellent movie about strong women and the men in their lives that prey on them from an early age. Portrayed very passionately and with great emotional intimacy. Magnificent movie!

Surprising message from Almodóvar: hiding the truth and keeping secrets is equivalent to lying - see pinocchio reference at the end of the movie -
and a clear example of "the true will make you free"...
A close-up emotional description of (very) typical Spanish families - I could really see the family of my parents in their faces.
Some of these issues will come back again in his later movie "Julieta".

It is exactly a Soap Opera. But this is one of the very best feature length Soap Operas you'll ever see.The presence of television throughout the film just served to highlight that Almodovar is intending this as a Soap.
