I still don't know how to feel about this movie. It is one of the most absurd films I have ever seen and I can honestly say that I never knew what the next scene would be like.
Well said NilofarNaini. Although for me the originality of the premise and what they managed to do with such a low budget trumps character development. For that reason this will definitely be on my lists.
PS: lolopuhffs some may argue that some people with healthy parents became serial killers, don't simplify... However I have to agree with you some scenes were pretty disturbing.

"It was Buñuel's intention to shock and insult the intellectual bourgeoisie of his youth, later saying: Historically, this film represents a violent reaction against what at that time was called 'avantgarde cine,' which was directed exclusively to the artistic sensibility and to the reason of the spectator. Against his hopes and expectations, the film was a huge success amongst the French bourgeoisie, leading Buñuel to exclaim in exasperation, "What can I do about the people who adore all that is new, even when it goes against their deepest convictions, or about the insincere, corrupt press, and the inane herd that saw beauty or poetry in something which was basically no more than a desperate impassioned call for murder?"
They wanted to be hated.

I didn't get it either but you're not supposed to. It was dream sequence with strange juxtapositions, made to shock and bring out emotions. It succeeds.
Also I agree with @Daddy Cool, if this is shocking for us, imagine it in 1929...

Only thing I disliked about this movie was the last action scene, seemed a bit forced spoiler
But it was very funny, with Gay Perry being the most funniest character I've seen in a long time and great chemistry between the two leads. Also Michelle Monaghan is sexy...

The story is true but, of course, it was embellished. The biggest lie was that the Spartans survived... Xerxes used the alternative path and slayed all the Spartans.
PS: Martial Arts? Really???

Winsor McCay made thousands of different drawings just to animate this 5 min clip. That's art and commitment.
With this music (not original) the animation actually gets better!

I always distrust movies with too many "a-list" actors. Summary of this film? Jack Nicholson.

People were not kidding about the racism! Still it's funny and you have to remmember that this was in 1943, hence the Army Propaganda at the end and the "Japs Free" "joke"(scariest racist joke)

Everybody keeps forgeting that this is a BIOGRAPHICAL film so the main story is not copied... And the clichés are probably do to some alterations the director/producers always make.

Brilliant historic epic although I agree with Dr. McNinja. It tries too hard to make us empathize with Genghis Khan. I mean this is a man that united all Mongolian tribes and conquered half the world, he does not need me compassion, he has my respect.

Remmember folks NEVER confuse Paul Thomas Anderson with Paul WS Anderson, what a terrible mistake... I don't know how this movie has a 5.7 rating on IMDb, seriously do yourself a favor and don't watch it.

Hahahaha, I understand that this is a site for movie nerds but some of us are over analysing this movie. What kind of plot and caracther development, you were expecting? This movie serves it's purpose, perfectly, nothing more than that. If you are easily offendable and don't aprecciate some chaos don't watch it.

Now that I know is a book from the same author than Jumanji it feels less like a rip-off. Its fun enough, if you liked Jumanji you should like this.

Indeed, Eastwood did nothing for me in this movie. But Rodriguez is one of the best villains I've ever seen. That deadly combo of intelligence and complete madness, like the Heath Ledger's Joker. And ennio morricone do I need to say more?
