Anyone who genuinely prefers this to the original needs their head looking at.

Definitely the best Craig Fairbrass film I've seen so far. It has heart, pathos and believable characters, rather than just being endless gangsters killing each other.

This is a darkly fascinating film with a rich cast of feline characters and a compelling, twisted plot. It may be one of the best animated films I've ever seen, and it's not something you'll soon forget. Make sure you watch it in German with subtitles as some of the language is quite nuanced at times, and this can get lost in translation.

I've seen worse ways to conclude a series, but the writing in this really isn't worthy of the mostly excellent TV series, and it doesn't really do justice to anyone involved - especially the acting talent on screen.

If you're a TLK fan you'll watch it for obvious reasons, but as a standalone film it's fairly pointless and as a long-time fan it just feels misjudged.

I think an interesting comparison to this would be the Deadwood movie from a few years ago, which attempted to do something similar with a much-loved show that never got a proper ending; only, in that case it did it much better, with a far stronger script and a greater deal of fan service. Given Netflix's wealth and the fact the cast are still all around, it boggles the mind they didn't just do another season and tie off all these plot points properly. A huge wasted opportunity, sadly.

Thoroughly enjoyed this! Nichols' $250k budget debut is a well-crafted, well-told story about two sets of half-brothers who reignite a decades-old blood feud following an incident by the eldest brother at their father's funeral. Features a vintage Michael Shannon performance and a fairly unknown (to me, at least) cast who all pretty much nail their respective roles. This is the sort of film that I could see being re-made on a larger budget and with a darker ending, but as independent films go this is first-rate, and it's easy to see why Nichols has used Shannon in all of his subsequent films. Recommended, and an instant favourite.

This is wonderfully bleak and with some great dialogue and atmosphere. I suppose this and Plague Dogs would make a great double-bill if you're feeling like ending it all.

I thought this was a great thriller with a couple of interesting twists. If you're on the fence, just watch it.

I thought this was very good, and it was interesting seeing a few lesser-known folks turn up in supporting roles. Good pacing, characters and soundtrack, although anyone expecting a heist movie would have been disappointed - it really only comes together in the final act, and it's over pretty quickly. That said, this is a 90s gem with standout performances from the main cast.

Slightly weaker than the first two films, but a solid addition to the genre nonetheless, and still far better than pretty much anything else like it.

Surprisingly fun, and yet more proof that Paul Walter Hauser can do no wrong. He steals every scene in this.

I've just got to be honest and crass with this one; my main takeaway was "my word, Mimi really does have a fantastic rack on her."

I found it absolutely terrifying - really what The Terminator could have been, but with cabbages.

A very good film based on the historical Holodomor (Ukraine famine) of 1932-33, in which several million Soviet citizens died. Bleak but engaging, and with a strong central performance by James Norton. Definitely recommended.

A masterclass from Hoskins, and one of the best final scenes of any film.

A decent film with good casting and pacing, but with a tacked-on romantic sub-plot. I enjoyed it but couldn't help but feel that the incredible source material warranted a much better (and more memorable) film - it won't take you long to forget you've seen this, and it's a very by the numbers production in most respects. It lacks ambition/scope, and it's the sort of Colin Firth performance you've seen a dozen times before.

This didn't need to be three hours long, and it's not that interesting. Dano and Farrell are great, but sadly I felt Serkis (of whom I'm a big fan as an actor - he's brilliant as Ian Dury) was miscast as Alfred, and the character had very little impact considering the film's length. Michael Caine was always going to be a tough act to follow, but you could cut all Serkis' scenes from this film and it would very little difference.

It all felt a bit too teen-angsty to me, so I'm guessing I'm not the target audience. If you're a Robert Pattinson fan I imagine you'll think it's the best thing you've ever seen, whereas if you've actually seen most of the previous Batman films you already know it's not as good as Nolan's. It's not terrible, but it rarely climbs above 'pretty good' and at times genuinely drags. Obviously, expect a couple of sequels and then another reboot in a few years.

There's some interesting stuff here, and it's well-made, but I don't see that it adds much to the franchise (which, ultimately, is all this film serves). I did like the detective story focus they were aiming for, and Pattinson is a decent enough Batman who I suspect will grow into the role over time, but it feels confused and I think it's pretty obvious that this film started life as something else (and with someone else).

7/10

I swear my friend had seen this way before he actually did (today), so we argued about it earlier. I thought he was trolling me and trying to undermine my already poor memory, but he's only just ticked it on here so it's possible I was in the wrong rather than he.

Still, the film is great. 8/10 at least.

Absolutely hysterical - I can't believe it's taken me so long to get round to watching this. Along with Mrs. Doubtfire this is by far Williams' funniest film, although he shares the best laughs with Lane and Hackman. Now, let's see what these Greek boys are doing...

"It's more coherent than [1997 Ray Liotta film] Turbulence."

My friend Dan's summary of Deadly Outbreak, which is a sort of 4/10 bad Die Hard clone. I've seen worse, though.

I really enjoyed this - it's basically a Charles Bronson movie but with Denzel. If you enjoy the genre there's no reason you won't enjoy this, and the final sequence is superb.

20 minutes in - one of the worst and most genuinely misguided films I've ever seen. Everyone involved with this should be fired by Equity and barred from acting until some substantive act of penance is undertaken; caring for Covid victims without masks or gloves, possibly.

I weep for Ben Mendelsohn, a fine actor.
