The movie felt more like a documentary than a high stakes thriller. I enjoyed it, although more in singular bits/performances as a whole. This movie has some really amazing actors however most of them are not put to good use and are given dull plots and under-developed storylines. The movie has about four characters too many. It could of been better done with less characters and more development.

It's interesting the first time around, but then it just gets boring after more and more rewatches. And I can't believe how dumb Marion Cotillard's storyline was :(

Not sure why this took awhile to appear on the site but nonetheless, one of my favorites of the year. Joseph Gordon-Levitt continues to prove himself as an actor and he really is magnificent in this role.

The character of Terry pissed me off so much. He was a dick! He was a clingy loser, stalking his ex and being really immature and unprofessional around the kids and to Vig. And he seemed like he had a lot of money, from his lifestyle/house/etc, yet he never offered to help his buddy Mike out financially?! Even after he told Terry he was going to loose his practice, all Terry wants is an assistant coaching job. Way to think of others, man. He was so unbearable towards the end. I just wanted him to go away. He killed the movie for me, and I enjoyed most everything else.

One of the best of 2011. You don't have to be a sports fan to love this one and be thoroughly invested in the characters and story lines. All of the three leads do a phenomenal job, but Tom Hardy's brooding but lethal performance stands out.

If Christian Bale got an Oscar for The Fighter, then Tom Hardy should be nominated too.

As someone who read the book beforehand, I don't exactly know how to feel about this movie. The film literally follows the book's setup, but it leaves out a lot of important details, or just compresses each year/chapter into a few minutes. Although I'm glad to see some of the better lines from the book were included, it seemed so rushed. A lot of what, in the book, made Emma and Dexter and the other characters (many who were either left out or not properly explored) so great was left out, and many of the personal thoughts in the book that showed Emma's and Dexter's ambitions/hopes/feelings, etc weren't incorporated. It would of been great to have the other relationships that Emma and Dexter had been explored. I really want to like this movie since the book was so great, but I don't think I do :(

Also, v, sorry *to, not *too.

It dragged on for way too long. Why hide a plot point in '89 that you know was going to play a main role throughout the entire movie?

What plot point are you referring too?

One of the worst movies of the year hands down even if we are just half way through...
Disgustingly acted and banal melodrama more than you can bare to watch

Absolutely agree. The first part during WWII was well done, but besides from that, it's pretty much awful.

Amazing film. One of the best I've seen in theaters this year. Truly stunning and wonderful in all aspects -- acting, directing, editing, cinematography, blocking, the whole nine yards.

Better than expected. Probably one of the better comedies of the year. Mila Kunis is great, I'd watch it again just for her. And I loved all the cameos in it.

Do not let the running time intimidate you. It really is quite a wonderful film, and although I do wonder if the creators ever considered making it a mini-series, the story lines and plots flow well with a great cast of interesting and details characters, woven in with their relationships and tribulations. It's worth it! I was never bored or wishing it was over, which happens to me often even in 1hr and 40 minute movies!

This movie is the biggest disappointment to me. You have Daniel Day-Lewis, Marion Cotillard, Nicole Kidman, Judi Dench (just to name a few!) in a movie, together! It should of been wonderful. And it wasn't. At all. :(
