I read a comment somewhere that said The Room is like a film made by someone who's never seen a movie but has had the concept thoroughly explained. The Snowman is that but with crime thrillers.

I get the impression a lot of people dislike this just because they're nostalgic for the original or they're annoyed by Jaden Smith's parents trying to make him a movie star. But remove those external contexts and it's a pretty good movie, with a decent storyline and some strong performances (Jackie Chan!)

It's depressing that this is not set 50 years ago but is the situation today. The ending is well calibrated to anger you into wanting change, which is clearly part of the point of the film's existence.

It isn't anything like as unremittingly terrible as some reviews would have you believe, but it is a tonally strange film. I'm not sure it works as a whole, but bits do.

Ironically, I'd enjoy this a lot more if Betelgeuse wasn't in it.

Disappointing. I actually think it has some very good ideas that could've made for a worthy continuation of the original, but it wastes too much time on the gang of students finding out what we already know. And then it has the audacity to not even end properly (the legacy of its conception as a pilot for a TV series, I presume).

I was really enjoying it... until the final ten minutes, with all those needless kinda nonsensical twists, and that final scene to rub salt in the wound. Bloody Americans.

Imagine being the kind of person who watches a film like Baby Driver and all they get from it is "some of the plot was a bit familiar”.

Maybe I just wasn't in the right mood for Snatch, but I thought this was better. Of course, all of Ritchie's gangster films are just the same kind of thing with different specifics. This one has the big benefit of starring Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Mark Strong, Tom Wilkinson, and Thandie Newton.

Definitely worse than the first movie. Gags are merely repeated or echoed from before, to diminished effect; whole storylines go nowhere at all; and there aren't any particularly memorable moments, whereas the first film was stacked with them.

It's kind of ironic that the type of people who tend to object to the first film's anal joke and, by extension, this whole movie, seem to have a massive stick up their collective arse.

It's not bad, but all these comments fawning over it aren't right either.

It's not as bad as the critics are saying, but it's not good either -- not as enjoyable as the usual kind of big summer movies the critics slag off.

I have to say, I really enjoyed it; more than I expected. The series is very much fans-only at this point, but this is probably the best one since the first.

I don't get the love for McKinnon at all. Enjoyed the film overall (not a patch on the original, but decent enough), but she was not one of the reasons why.

As movies about giant monsters fighting each other go, I thought it was pretty much perfect. Loved every minute of it.

Seems Empire updated the list back in August, hence why there are now 60. They've also renamed it "The Greatest Movie Sequels", which makes sense.

The plot's very familiar from every other superhero origin movie, but that's only a problem if you think movies are only about the plot. The visuals are stunning, creating genuine big-screen spectacle in an era when unlimited CGI seemed to have stopped that being possible.

As an empty-headed action movie, I enjoyed it more than I probably should have. There are a couple of decently choreographed fights, and Ray Stevenson is almost brilliant as Frank Sr -- the father-son dynamic is fun.

Really great story. Disappointingly sloppy documentary.

Reckon this is a very underrated movie. A great Le Carré plot with sterling performances all round, but particularly from the two leads.

The fact Cahiers du cinéma, of all places, once picked the Jack Bauer Power Hour as one of the top 10 films of a year has somewhat blown my mind.

If Michael Bay knew he was making a comedy, this would be a great movie.
